My husband and I what our social circle was considered to be a small simple wedding and did not get into debt for it. My sister-in-law and her husband had a big fancy wedding which they charged to their credit cards which it has taken her and her husband over ten years to pay off. My sister-in-law and her husband did not come from money. They had children right away. I would think with thierwanting to have children they would be more frugal than us who were planning to have no children but no-and fancy weddings do nothing for future children.
There was one woman at work with cash flow problems and two children threw her husband a big fancy birthday party.
Some spending comes with children but some does not.

i can't help but wonder sometimes if they had children because it's what all of their friends are doing. I think this is true for at least some people. Some people simply go along with the crowd without stopping to consider the consequences of their actions and how it will affect their lives. I've always believed that if more people stopped to consider what the reality of having children actually entails, there would be many fewer people having children.
