"This is the only place in life OR on the internet I am honest about my age!!! "
Same here!!! As you know, in the entertainment field ageism is rampant. So I've been "mid'30's" now for quite awhile.

Yes, I think that's why I'm still vague - even though I'm not in it anymore. Everyone I know from back then is younger than me! Right now I have a guy from back then I used to like -- and I'm older than him and I'm sure he has no idea he's re-flirting with a 55 year old that is starting to look it. It's awkward. I leave plenty of hints, like he should be able to figure it out just from the concerts I've seen (Hendrix, Joplin). He probably wasn't even born yet!
When I was in that industry, on the rare occasion I would tell someone my age, like a label person, first they would say I don't look it and THEN they would say "Why aren't you married?" This from potential employers. Gets so old. Why aren't I married? I'm having too much fun to want to get married and settle down, you old boot.

Growing up, I was always embarrassed about my age. When I started school, I just made the age cutoff date by a few days so most of my classmates were older than me, and it was embarassing to me. Once I became an adult, I've never had an issue with telling anyone my age.

38 right now. Will be 39 in September.
For those you who are in the 31-40 age bracket, please notice the high percentage as opposed to the other age groups. That's something to be proud of. We're in the majority! ;D

This from potential employers. They were asking you why you weren't married? That was none of their damn business. BTW, I tried to put your quote in the solid-line black box like the others, but I couldn't. How do I do that?

I think you just hit quote up at the top of the page. And then you can take out however much of it you want from the middle.
Well, in that industry, i.e. access to rock stars, the old males in the business were especially weird about preferring the women to be "settled down." It was an all male industry when I started out. I went to a business convention of it in the seventies, and since I was one of the only women there, everyone assumed I was a hooker, even though I wore a 3 piece taupe Kasper suit. Honestly, I think the men were jealous a woman could have so much fun. Anyway, I NEVER let them keep me down and just tried to stay away from working under anyone I knew was especially bad. And the very same ones that were like that, half the time they would also constantly come on to you. Men in that business were very bitter. They saw the musicians getting all the women, tried to poach off them as best they could to get sex by using their power and passes, and then resented people like me, who worked hard and also had a very good time doing it - without abusing my power.

I'm 20, turning 21 in August. My fiance is 25.
I had the same issue as happy2bchildfree; My DOB fell just before the cut off date to start school, so I was always the youngest in my class. It still makes me uncomfortable, as almost every time we go out to eat they try to sit us in the bar and I have to be like "Um, I'm only 20".... lol

I'm 27 and I'd be OK with it except for I'm still in school and want to start my LIFE. Grad school sucks everything out of you...only 8 more months to go! You know why they say scientists have no life...it's because in order to get a respectable job we don't get out of school until our 20's are over! I hear that! I'm 25, in graduate school, and probably have around 5-6 more years to go.
