Been living with my boyfriend for 2 years, been dating for 3. Now, I'm just waiting for the ring! haha. You know the saying that things happen when you least expect them? Well, who knows? One day, your guy might surprise you with a band of gold.

happily unmarried to the same man for 3.5 years...and wondering what in the hell DH and all that stand for...i went to that mommy confession site and saw all sorts of DH, DS, etc...i have ideas but i don't think many refer to their SO's as dickheads...so yeah I dunno, I referred to my last husband that way for the greater part of our marriage. Affectionately speaking though, "DH" I believe means "dear husband", although I am not positive.

Married 6 years. Since he was attatched to a sea-going command at the time (aka the submarine) we got married when he got back from sea. It just so worked out that the Saturday we picked when he got back was December 29, 2001. December 29 is also his birthday. And my birthday is January 3 so we have a lot to celebrate at the beginning and the end of each year. We've been together since he asked me out on the last day of our freshman year of High School, so this past June 7 made it 12 years of us being together. We always say, "Minus a few months here and there and a few break-ups." I saw someone after J and I had broken up during the first semester of our first year of college and I had a bad experience happen to me. So about 3 weeks later I broke up with him and J and I got back together. I didn't know it until he called me while we were still broken up that he had joined the Navy mid Dec. of 1999 and eventually would be stationed on a sub! I started balling my eyes out talking to him over the phone....."5 years, 5 years, that's so long from now.5 years until you'll get out of the Navy? Is it final? Did you sign the papers yet?" It was a phone call I'll always remember. Believe it or not when he called me I technically was still dating "x." It's a long story but with a happy ending. Well, here we are & he's been enlisted since Jan. of 2000. I'm still finding my "path" which I believe to be something art related and he has made the choice to stay in for the long haul (which I'm completely supportive of.) I couldn't be prouder. Something worked out because we are convinced that him having joined the Navy while we were broken up was the best thing that could've happened to us. I am so thankful for all that we have at the age we were then and are now.

I said "married" because DW and I married in Canada last year (only nearby place likely to keep same sex married legal for the forseeable future).
We are both firmly committed to a CF lifestyle--both of us have felt this way since young. We've gotten a bingo or two about adopting, but I'm in my mid-50s now and I am not spending the second half of my life raising a child. If other couples want to adopt, fine, but I know myself well enough to know I'm not parent material and DW feels the same way for herself.

I wish the government would get out of everyone's bedrooms and just make gay marriage laws that are fair and consistent at the federal level. Why should gay marriage be legal in one state but be non-binding in another. Sheesh....are we going to go back to the days when each individual state had their own separate currencies too?
It must be stressful knowing that one's marriage based legal benefits could be erased at any time depending on who's in office.

That is the downside of it, Tabetha. And we got tired of waiting, so we went to Canada.

I am looking for a girlfriend. I recently bought a membership in a local matchmaking service. I am not getting married anytime soon. I only recently started dating.
