Hi guys. I just had this installed today. The doc gave me multiple shots of local anesthetic, measured the uterus and then placed it. Placing it hurt less than the measuring but it was not a pleasant experience. Especially since they wanted to do it while I was on my period. Ack! They had to give me a shot in the backside to stop the cramps afterwards. And she sent me home with Tylenol3. So here I am nearly 4 hours later and I'm still a little uncomfortable but not really in pain. It feels more like PMS discomfort now. Here's to hoping this works out for me.

Thanks y'all.
Things are pretty much business as usual. The period stopped exactly when it normally would have and I pretty much forget it is there. (However, I will not forget the pain of getting it put there. Yowza!!)
I was actually really sick when I went for the Mirena. I had bronchitis and dual ear infections which probably made me extra sensitive. I was already on the 3 day Z-pak but I wasn't about to wait another month to get it done.
For about the first 3 days afterwards my belly was distended and a little touchy. Which was no big deal except when my cats were wanting to lay on me. They get extra attentive when I'm not feeling well. Awwww.
We shall see how it goes next month, eh? I go for a follow-up 'string check' in about 4 weeks.
The hubs and I have both been really sick so, needless to say, we haven't found out if the strings are a problem for him yet. We are getting over this crud but it's slow going. We have Kleenex available in pretty much every room of our house and I carry a travel size one with me. Sheesh.
Naturally, now that I have one, I keep reading horror stories about Mirena but so far I don't have any regrets.
Have a safe and happy holiday.

Hope you both get feeling better soon. That stuff drags you down, I know. Nice the kitties are trying to take care of you. So sweet.

I have only read good things about it, but it seems to be the most suited to all the problems i have with my womanly bits anyway. We are trying to find someone who does it. Would you mind telling me how you and your hubby found it as mine is a bit concerned

Best thing, lowest risk, and easiest by far is for your husband to get snipped.

Its something we would consider but would be hard pressed to find a doctor to do it since neither of us (i would have my tubes tied) is over 30 yet... some rubbish about us now knowing our own minds until then
