Well, I may need to have an ablation

at 32. My periods just stopped. (I'm still having cramping adn pain though) My dx predicted this. Not preg, I've had several tests, all neg, than goodness. The doc is scheduling me for an ultrasound to see what needs to be done and I may need to have a laproscopy (she thinks I have endo) or even an ablation. I don't even care at this point. I want to have no more pain with my periods and if I can even have a hysto through the female parts preferably, I will ask for it. I've already talked to the hubster and he said he has accepted it. He doesn't care if we never have children or if we do, that I'm more important than something that may or may not happen.

If this is it, as soon as it's all over, I'm going to go on a work trip to celebrate the end of two decades of hell! ;D

Well, hopefully they can clean out those pipes and you'll get to feeling better. It can recur, of course. Not having hormones can suck, though. Be sure and ask them if you have a hysto and then take hormone replacement, can the endo recur. I would say it would be less likely to recur, but maybe still possible.

I'm having endo surgery at the end of this month (laproscopy, hysteroscopy and an ablation) and I can't wait! They put me on Ovscon (sp?) which made me feel like killing myself, so I stopped that and just had my first cycle in 6 months - PAINFUL!!!! We're talking 1 7.5 Lortab would only last 2 hours. But Preraph is right, endo can come back. If there are any implants on my uterus and/or bowel I'll be put on this stuff called Lupron which puts you into menopause for 6 months, but the endo implants shrink for up to 2 years. Let me know how things go, but I'm sorry you have to go through this.

writerchk, just curious- what is an ablation? I hope whatever the drs can do for you will help your quality of life overall greatly improve and less painful or painfree. (You as well Karlita with all you're going through.)

I would prefer a vaginal hysterectomy to an ablation because I could still get pregnant and the risks to me and the baby go way up in that case. We shall have to see what the drx says.

Probably won't need an ablation! I have a cyst in my right ovary and it can probably be treated with meds and/or surgery. I'm so relieved. I will know by tommorrow or Monday.

I don't know whether to say that's good news or not. Hopefully they won't have to do surgery to remove the cyst - it has to be a certain size before they remove it I think. May the meds work well for you and may your pain be gone soon.

My endo surgery/ ablation is on Friday. I know the reality of the procedure, but when the words, "We put a rod through your female parts into your uterus so that we can move the uterus up, down, side to side ..." came out of my Dr.'s mouth, my knees got weak. Even the most mild cases of endo can cause severe pain so I'm sure I don't have Stage 4 endo or anything, but the idea of this surgery is unsettling to me. It wasn't like this when I had my tubal. Sorry for whining, but it's easier for me to write things out than talk sometimes. Identifying fear and dealing with it, blah, blah, blah.

My goodness Kalita, sorry to hear you have to go through with that proceedure. My knees would have got weak, as well. But I'm sure the outcome will be worth it.

I have firbroids. I'm going in for a followup next Tuesday adn then, they're going to decide what to do. I have another ultrasound in 6-8 weeks and my dx is looking to put me on meds for now until then.

I really don't like my dx. I suspect she's a baby freak. I had to change to her b/c I needed a specialist to find out what was wrong adn why I hadn't had a period for months. All her other patients seem to be preggo. So, as soon as she finds out I'm not and am in no hurry to be, she pushes me to the back of the line.

I had a travel assignment to ES/Branson. I wanted to get this ultrrasound out of the way so I wouldn't worry about it. I had to wait a week and a half to even get the ultrasound and then was told they would have the results on Monday (the day before I left.) Monday comes. Nothing. I call and am told to call back later in the week!

So, I have to go on my work trip scared to death I have cancer or something. I get back and still, they don't have it in. I wait two whole days later and finally I hear back that's it benign fibroids and when I complain, I get the attitude that I shouldn't be complaning and they're sooo busy!

OMG, I am just so mad. I have my appointment next week and I'm bringing my mom and hubby. I dare someone to put me at the back of the line with ma there.

That kind of treatment is unreal, Gabby. In no way, shape or form should a Dr. EVER put a patient that has undiagnosed growths behind a routine pregnancy. I hate to say go into every Dr's appointment like you're going into a fight, but that's what the childfree women of this world have to do sometimes. Be strong, fight for your health and don't get discouraged.

Well, I had my surgery today. I don't have endometriosis. I didn't have anything but some scar tissue from my tubal. The Dr. called me "perfectly normal". The pain I have been in for the past year is anything but normal! She removed the adhesions, found nothing in the hysteroscopy but did the ablation to help my heavy (and totally random!) bleeding. The Dr. was so sure I had endometriosis that she had me convinced. If I hadn't insisted she do the surgery, she would have put me on that Lupron stuff without a proper diagnosis. I do have all the symptoms, but now she thinks its an intestinal issue and is referring me to a gasterentologist (sp?). I'm sorry, but since when is heavy menstrual bleeding and pain in your female parts caused by your bowels? My biggest fear going into this procedure has been realized but I know my pain is real. Time will tell if the ablation works and if the removal of the adhesions makes things better (in all fairness, they do account for 60%-70% of cronic pelvic pain) but right now I'm so angry I could cry. Gabby, I know I told you not to get discouraged but I am having a weak moment right now. Sorry for venting, but it's a better alternative to sobbing with fresh incisions.

They put me back on Yaz for now. I have another ultrasound this fall so they will be able to see how it's going by then.

They were going to do the shot, Lupron, which can throw you into menopause to make the fibroids go away. I'm wary of shots though with my seizures and all. So, we'll have to wait and see.

I'll know more after my next ultrasound. Oh and the dx couldn't have been nicer to me. I made it known I knew what I wanted and was going to go after it.

Don't get a hysterectomy! They are way overperformed and so harmful! Please do LOTS of research on it if you ever plan on having it done. Don't let them butcher you.
