He is someone I wish was child-free. Despite all his problems and I don't condone his apparent sexual abuse for children I sometimes felt a little sorry for him.
I remember in one interveiw when he was trying to explain why as an adult he liked to play with children he said he never had a childhood and how he was told a four he had to support his family. I think at four that is pressure. He said that it was a reason he liked to play with children because he never had a childhood. While I don't condone his behavior, I wish people who push their children so hard look at what happended to him.

Yeah, I didn't condone his behavior either, but he was so screwed up mentally that I had pity in my heart for him - despite his money and fame. It's amazing what the combination of child abuse/exploitation and money can do to a person. Poor Michael. May he rest in peace.

A great performer. He wasn't convicted, and I think there's a chance he didn't cross the line. Just because you have arrested development does not make you a child molester necessarily. And he was open about having that. I guess until his kids are grown or if someone comes forward when they're 30 or so years old, that's when we'll know for sure -- except now if someone comes forward after he's dead, he's not there to defend himself. The only one who did come forward had a mother who was notorious for scamming people. Anyway, he was a tragic figure with his body dysmorphic disease and lupus and everything. People were always acting like he was just pretending to be sick, but lupus is a real disease with many and varied symptoms -- and it is a disease few laypeople understand and people with it often get accused of being a hypochondriac because they suffer in different ways their whole life but don't usually just worsen and die, like people expect to see. He would have been in pain and definitely in need of pain killers.

To me, it looks as if Michael Jackson was probably a very lonely soul. To be SOO ruch and successful, it must have been hard for him to trust people and sift out who was only out for his money or a touch of immortality by association. People can be very greedy and backstabbing and he probably retreated into his world of fantasy as a means of self-protection.
But he WAS a great artist and performer and the world has lost a great talent!

What about the peter pan factor? I think he was trying to look like peter pan with his nose. Peter Pan was an adult child. Michael actually said "I am Peter Pan in my mind" (or something very similar) in an interview. I don't think he's guilty of anything; and the molestation was burned into everyone's mind by the media. I think he was too delicate for this world, and i was hurt when i heard about his death. When you have that much money, you don't have to listen to anyone, and i wonder how many of his friends were genuine. I was/am disgusted by alot of reporters who have interviewed michael and family. I know they have to ask the tough questions, but the way they did it seemed so shallow and rude.

Yeah, that Peter Pan thing was all part of arrested development, which is a facet of yourself that doesn't mature properly because of trauma or some other interruption in childhood, which he certainly had in spades.

Michael Jackson was a casualty of pop culture. I was never a huge fan of him as a solo artist (tho I loved the Jackson 5) because I'm more into hard/classic/punk rock and blues, but the whole thing, the whole spectacle of his life and death is unutterably tragic. And speaking as one who lost a father at a young age, seeing his daughter break down at the funeral was tough. I am relieved, however, to find that I am not so cynical that I can't feel compassion for her and the rest of his family (except Joe Jackson b/c he was a major reason Michael was such a mess.)
Sad, sad, sad. At least he's free now.
