Forgive my rant but I've been upset all day about a phone call I received yesterday & figured I'd find a supportive group here to listen.
Yesterday, which was Valentine's Day, I gave up some time during the day which could have been spent with my DH to teach some make-up music lessons to a few of my students. One particular mother scheduled a full hour with me to teach her son. Well, she completely forgot and blew the lesson off, leaving me to sit there with my thumb up my a## on what was supposed to be my day off. Well, when she heard she wouldn't be credited the full hour (I offered to credit her a half-hour which was quite generous of me) she flipped. This woman had the AUDACITY to call my personal cell phone number and scream and yell at me like a spoiled two-year old for not letting her evade the store policy. I could barely get in a word edgewise - after her screaming tantrum she slammed the phone down.
I had this student for years and came in often on my off-days to accommodate her son's busy schedule. Why is her stupid schedule more important than mine, the ungrateful %()&!
All I can say is WOW - WHAT AN ENTITLED LAZY SLOB OF A BIT**!!!!!!! I'm supposed to waste my afternoon & lose money because of her whim.
I'm still shaking as I type this. I'm a trained professional singer and musician. I didn't spend years of my life and lotsa money for training to be abused by entitled, self-absorbed clueless parents who think I must bend over backwards to serve them. AAARRRGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, do not ever do business for this woman again! She is horrible. You should have charged for the whole hour and terminated her once she got abusive about it. I just can't believe people. I guess you need to do a paper contract and ask for 48-hour notice for cancellation with refund. I assume they're paying you in advance, because you said "credit" her.

She has probably had her way by acting mean and scaring people. Stay calm, stick to policy, and make her decide what she wants to do. If she persists, you may want to ask her where she works so you could walk in yelling about about changing the rules of her job. I know in the moment, these people can almost make you feel like you are doing something wrong. You can stop shaking; she's the idiot. Maybe nobody ever got in her face. I have a demented side when it comes to people like this. I've been known to plan revenge, and then execute it slowly and methodically.

This woman, like every other customer, is given a paper contract to read and sign and is explicitly told the rules as well. I think she's just a big bully who is used to getting her way by bullying people (that's the personality she has). She expected me to bend my rules because we had a friendly rapport thru the years (my personality is friendly and outgoing).
She's just a mean bully and I calmly refused to budge and that is what set her off. I HATE people like that!
I need to breathe deeply.......thanks for your support preraph & kiddinla!
