I saw a tv show the other day, sorry can't think of the name, that was about the owner of Hooter's going undercover into his restaurants. Now, I'm sure most anyone around this board for any length of time would know that I'm going to be judgmental about Hooter's, for exploitation reasons, and I have no respect for guys who get their jollies by going to a bad restaurant so they can ogle teenage girls. So I think we all know where this is going.
First of all, how they're getting around the discrimination thing, apparently, is saying you have to fit into the existing t-shirts, which is obnoxious. Now the owner didn't seem like a bad man, but he is a Neaderthal when it comes to being clueless about sexism. And if he's not clueless, then he's just a good actor who has learned to dodge criticism by pretending to be clueless. Anyway, these girls were being degraded in just about every way there is, treated like hunks of meat, and one manager was being a real rod by making up super degrading contests. Of course, these girls are free to leave, and I believe they should, so yes, they are asking for it.
So the owner has daughters who are still young and he is appalled at this degrading manager's behavior (the others weren't much better, IMO), so instead of firing him, which is what needed to be done, because this guy was cruel and malicious, he instead tells him his little girls want to work at Hooter's someday, and that he wouldn't feel comfortable having them work under his leadership. Well, now, what kind of father is "okay" with his teenage daughter putting on hot pants and a revealing top and getting paid for letting men ogle her??
Other problems he found were that single mothers were having a hard time being able to pick up their kids from daycare, so he instituted a policy that gave more flexibility ONLY to single parents. OMG. WHY isn't this illegal? We have so many rules and lawsuits and red tape. Why isn't this illegal?? I'm so fed up with it.
