So, for a very long time I've wanted to get sterilized. Every other form of birth control has either been painful or made me sick. I also really enjoy my ridiculously high libido, and the hormones just dull that down to a low whisper. I've tried pretty much everything, but after a great deal of research, I've determined that I want to get Essure.
Of course, since I do not have insurance, the cost is pretty high (my general quote from local Essure certified doctors is around $5k.) Being of an anthropological and psychological background, I came up with an interesting experiment. Using a blog as my home base, I will try to provide goods and services and also rely on donations - the proceeds of which will go straight to my sterilization. Instead of the idea of "it takes a village to raise a child" I am trying "it takes a village to prevent a child". I am really curious to see how people react to this, both for my own selfish sake (it would rock to be able to get enough money) and my broader interest and understanding of American society.
So, if you're interested, take a look. I just put it up today, so there's not much there. But I will be adding one good or service a day that I will do in exchange for a donation, so if you're interested keep checking back! I don't care if you donate or not, that's up to you. But take a look and give me some feedback if you have the time. I would really appreciate it!
It's like a social experiment with a twist!
