Not sure how many of you heard the news amid all the politicizing going on this week, but Kathleen Sebelius of Health & Human Services made recommendations that birth control be covered by insurance, and this has now become policy. While not everyone is covered by insurance (and I don't know if Medicaid is included), this will certainly make birth control more affordable to many and will perhaps help make it better known to young people that birth control exists, since they are no longer teaching anything but abstinance in schools.
I am about to write and thank Kathleen Sebelius for her representation on this matter and while I'm at it I'm going to ask her to consider doing something about young women being consistently refused sterilization.
