Hey all, my name's Kate, and I'm childfree. My husband is Martin. We're in our mid-20s and happily CF after initially being childless. I do enjoy (most) children but just don't want any for myself. Looking for a community where I can make friends and share some laughs without watching breeders get into a flame war over stupid stuff.
SO....what's up?

You came to the right place! I can't remember the last flame here. Long time ago we had some trespassers from mommy boards come over and be mean, but we put them on lockdown and haven't had trouble since.

Thanks for the welcome Preraph! More about me....hmmm. I'm 26 and I've been married for six years. I have two cats who are both overweight. King Solomon, aka "Sol," is a black Norwegian forest cat. Millicent, aka "Millie," is a pudgy calico. I teach the toddler class at a church preschool and this summer I was a nanny for one of my previous students. My husband is 28, formerly a Marine, now a police officer. I have a myriad of health problems, some genetic, some totally random, that would make it a strain for me to parent and that I also don't wish to pass on. I enjoy reading, dining out, urban living, green living, and having control if my finances. We definitely plan to retire well. Im sarcastic, I talk too much, and im funny. That's mostly it.

You're smart to keep your life under control and do what you know you can to live the best possible way. You can't talk to much here, so go for it. I have a skinny calico who decided she liked the dog's new food and just started eating out of her bowl right in front of her yesterday. My dog looked at me very alarmed. If a dog could raise its eyebrows and bug out its eyes, that's how it would look. The kitty is getting pretty old and she just began lording over the dogs this past year, so they're looking to me to keep her from just trouncing all over them, I guess.

My cats are quite funny. Solomon is 6, and we've had him for five years and Millie is 10, and we've had her for less than one year. They both have very dominant personalities and it's funny to see them try to work things out. They frequently end up in little slap-fights over silly things, like who gets to eat first or go through a door first. Animals can be so bizarre.
I guess the dogs will have to just deal with the new pecking order in your house! When you get to be a certain age, you get to do certain things and no one is allowed to say a word about it. It sounds like your kitty is taking advantage of that.
