The stereotype that childfree people have unlimited financial resources is already rampant. It isn't true--why perpetuate it?

It was just meant to be funny, please take it that way. My husband I do not have unlimited financial resources, but I can definitely state that we'd be far worse off financially if children were in the picture

I realize that it's "supposed" to be funny, and I do realize that you posted it in that spirit. It's going to have to be one of those things we need to "agree to disagree" on, and let it go at that. Yes?

They do say children are a financial drain in modern society. I am glad I don't have to worry about children's college education.

Don't you get tired of hearing people say "You'd find a way." I'm trying to "find a way" to pay all my bills already! What's left? Geriatric prostitution?

I'm doing the same thing, trying to find a way to keep my head above water. Even if I'd wanted a child, how fair would it have been to the child to grow up having to do without?

According to a lot of people, all you need is love. But whenever I tell my bill collectors that I love them, for some reason it's not as good as money.

So true. I don't think telling my mortgage company, credit card company, utility companies, and the grocery store that I love them is going to fly.

Even middle class parents sound like welfare parents when it comes to college education-they want someone else to pay for it.
I hear most parents nowadays can't pay for college education and save for retirement.

It's sad that so many young people now leave college with a large studen-loan debt to pay back. Not a good way for anyone to start out.
The state schools in my state have raised their tuition significantly several times in the last few years. The state schools used to be a relatively affordable option to attend college. That's rapidly changing.

Oh, it's criminal that students can start life saddled with all those loans. They all think they'll get rich and pay them off, and they just end up in bankruptcy struggling. It costs so much to go to college now. I don't even think it's worth it anymore.

I waited until I was considered "emancipated" (26, to be precise) before going into big-time college (CC was relatively easy to pay for). That way I was tons more eligible for financial aid since my parents' information wasn't needed or considered relevant.
Personally, I'd be willing to pay big taxes if it meant that everyone got the health care they needed, and everyone got to go to school. Seeing as this is the US though, first of all the corporate entities with something to gain would shoot it down and secondly, even if taxes were raised most of it would go towards developing deadlier weapons.

Here there is a lot of emphasis on the private colleges where I don't think it is worth the money.

Well, life is good when you're a crazy cat/dog lady. Don't deny yourself that pleasure.

Amen, Sistas. Laying in bed with my pets is just about my favorite thing (at least that I can afford to do!)
