While I think that providing breastfeeding areas should be optional just like pregnancy parking, I'd rather have them doing it in a designated area. It's better than them breastfeeding in front of everyone or taking up space in the bathroom. New to the forums, by the way!

Welcome to the forum! I feel the same way. Anything to keep me from having to watch it while trying to have a pleasant dinner out. My fear, however, is this will only erase all the boundaries and that we'll see it more in public, the old "give them an inch and they'll take a mile" theory. I hope I'm wrong. This is actually a law to create a breast pump station, which sounds really excessive as a requirement to all businesses. So it doesn't say this is where to breastfeed your child, but I assume that is also the purpose, though the law doesn't say so. It's not about being able to take your child to work and go there to breastfeed, though I believe many mothers will take it as a sign that they are now entitled to do that, but about being able to store breastmilk so they can keep breastfeeding their babies even while working and leave the milk at the daycare or whatever.

I can see it in public places. However, there is increased emphasis about being able to pump breast milk at work and I wonder if it is just giving mothers more rights than nonmothers.

I have the same concern. If they get breaks, so should everyone else. And yes, it is mostly designed for work, according to the article I read. That is the target, so breastfeeding mothers can work. I really don't have a big problem with it except I feel everyone should get the same time off and breaks, not just people with kids.
