Hi-my father who is 89 is very sick. He fell down the stairs and is now in a coma.
My mother and I need to consult with the hospital about his care.
I don't think they are as sympathetic with elder care as child care.

I'm sorry to hear about your father. I agree with you, no one is as sympathetic with elder care as with child care.

I'm so sorry. It's so hard to go through old age with your parents. Oh, by no means does anyone give the elderly anywhere near the priority children get. Remember that if he improves some, home care may be recommended by the doctor and paid by Medicare, at least for some period of time. It can come in handy as they provide not only nursing but sometimes house cleaning, etc, depending on the need. My sister is getting some home care and has been for a few months now, but it's not constant by any means, but she doesn't need someone most of the time.

And listen, I am not trying to be a know-it-all, but I've been through 2 guardianships and two power of attorney situations and in case you end up having to be involved in that, I might be able to give you a little advice, although laws vary state to state some.
