Worried about this ectopic pregnancy thing And yet there is NO temporary form of contraception I like! NOTHING, NADA. Even if it's just "weight gain" I'm sorry but I've struggled ENOUGH with my weight in my life!! (I WISH someone would make a pill that would also make you LOSE weight!) I have fam history of blood clots too, (which can be brought on be bc pills and can even kill me) hubby literally sometimes can't "perform" with a condom on and I've already had ONE man in my life get a vascetomy (he was childfree too) I'd feel bad asking hubby to as well! He said he'd consider it though. But being as I'm the more strongly childfree one I feel like this time it's my turn. I don't like the coil or IUD or whatever because I have colleagues (with kids) using it for birth control and they complain of the most awful bleeding and cramps MUCH WORSE than usual during their periods. I am 34 and I KNOW I will NOT change my mind. But, I am a bit scared! ESP of this ectopic (or whatever the word is!) pregnancy! The only option if we do this would be use condoms and cross our fingers we can even HAVE sex for the next three months and then after that hope I do NOT still get preggers (after the tubal.) It could be pricey too so I'm thinking within the next three years. Reassurance, anyone? (P.S. I live in the UK)

There are stimulating condoms out there that can actually help your hubby breathe a little more life into the area between his legs . Just make sure they aren't 'fun' condoms, those are not always safe.

Probably but I don't know if I trust the N.H.S. heard too many bad stories!! I think I'd prefer to go private! I live and work in the UK but I am originally from New Zealand, maybe I'd feel differently if I was born and raised in the UK. Not trying to be snobby but it's my body and I want the best for it!

Athena, there are risks and down-falls to every birth control method. If you are prone to blood clots, you should DEFINITELY stay away from any hormonal birth control. Besides, tubal pregnancies can happen to anyone, even if their tubes aren't tied. If you really want your tubes tied, you should talk to a non-biased doctor about the statistics of tubal pregnancies and make your decision accordingly.
Good luck!
