You are lucky to find a doctor who will perform it on you.
Strange..when I was 21, I had more luck with doctors who were willing to perform it. Now that I am 22, and in a good position to get it done, doctors are refusing to do it on a "woman who has never had children".

Keep at it...I'm sure you'll find one.
I'm all set for tomorrow...
Gauze pads (2 sizes) - check Band-aid flex bandages - check Neosporin Maximum Strength with Pain Relief - check Advil - check Tylenol - check Bag o'peas - double check Stomach cramps - check Nausea - check
Yea...I'm good. Scared. But good. Just hope the recovery goes well...I've read too much on the net about people that have had complications. Praying for a smooth procedure and speedy recovery.

Good luck tomorrow, noregrets! Trust me, the relief you'll feel afterward will immensely outweigh the nervous feelings now. I was nervous before my tubal surgery (I'd never had surgery before, and was mostly nervous about anesthesia), but the relief when I woke up and knew I would never have to worry about getting pregnant.... It was spectacular. And now, pretty much every day, I think about how grateful I am to have gotten it done. I could probably fill a book on daily events that make me happy that I will never have children... haha Hope your recovery goes smoothly and quickly!

Good luck with your procedure. It seems like it's much easier for a young man to get snipped than it is for a young woman.

Well its over. Other than a slight pinch, some tugging, and the liquid i felt running down my leg, it was pretty uneventful. No pain. I got some vicodin, and an antibiotic. I'm home now and it feels like someone kicked me in the bag...the pain isn't by the incisions, its actually where my bladder is. Guys would understand. All in all, not bad. I'm gonna keep up on the pain meds until Monday when I return to work, or depending on how I feel tomorrow I might stop the vic's and start some advil or tylenol (which ever one takes care of swelling) I am SOOO glad this is over. Looking forward to healing and the final word after the tests that I'm sperm free

Glad to hear everything went well! Big relief, right? Ibuprofen is what's for swelling, so Advil or Motrin would be what you'd want. I looked it up to be sure, but I remembered that when I tore my cartilage behind my knee and it was all swollen (could not wear jeans at all; They wouldn't fit over my knee!) that's what my doctor had me taking. You have to be careful with popping them too often, though; He had me taking them every 4-6 hours, 24/7 because the swelling was so bad, and after about a week and a 1/2 to 2 weeks I developed an allergy to the Ibuprofen and it caused me to develop sores all down my esophagus. I tried taking one again a few months later, same issue. Tried again 2 years later, no problems. The human body is so odd.... lol So glad that everything went well for you!! I wish you a speedy recovery!

Vasectomy - Day 2
Woke up feeling absolutely nothing...felt like any other morning and let me tell you I was excited about that! I even got morning wood so I know it still works! Thank God for that.
After standing up I felt that familiar pressure on the bladder feeling. Changed my dressings, went out to get breakfast. I sit now on the couch with my old friend, bag o'peas. Took some Ibuprofin for the swelling...haven't had to take any vics which is a very good thing.
I feel fantastic! Mentally I feel like this massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. No longer can I be pressured or trapped into having children. I have taken the steps necessary to ensure my life goes in a direction that is acceptable to me. Granted you never know what tomorrow can bring...but by God if I do see tomorrow, at least I know one part of it that will be the way I want it to be.
Praise be to God, that universal energy, for allowing me to go through this successfully.

Good for you! I for one am looking forward to the day when I either go into menopause or can get a hysterectomy...it's gotta be better than having "psycho periods." LOL!

I feel fantastic! Mentally I feel like this massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. ;D It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it? I felt the same once my tubal was done.

Absolutely. I had this uncontrollable giggle as I walked tenderly to the car after. My friend who drove me there (who's also about to become a father for the first time) was like "what's so funny?" I couldn't even describe it to him...just told him how happy I was that its over.

I admire you (and anyone else) who is totally taken their CF choice into their own hands instead of needing/depending cooperation from partners.

Vasectomy - Day 3
I don't know what happened last night but I woke up feeling like one of the boys ventured off in the middle of the night. Had a hard time breathing at first until I realized it wasn't actual pain, it was an ache. Got some breakfast and took an ibuprofin cause there was definitely swelling. Got home, still had the ache and took the vicodin. After some peas and a little time I'm feeling ok I guess. I'm going to attempt a shower today. I feel so disgusting. I hate leaving the house not showering and going more than a day skeeves me out.
Hopefully last night won't be repeated...I REALLY have to work tomorrow.
I have to say my friends have been incredible throughout it all. They've kept me company at my place as much as possible and I thank them for that.

Vasectomy - Day 4
Last night I had a scare. For reasons unbeknownst to me, I started coughing REALLY hard. After that I felt like I pulled or irritated something down there and it swelled up pretty bad. It didn't HURT hurt but it was very annoying. Enough to take some vics.
This morning, the pain was gone. I didn't even really have that full bladder feeling either, very very minor. Took some ibuprofin for the swelling when I got to work and will keep up with that as the day goes along until I can get home to my beloved peas.
I think this will be the last entry unless something goes wrong, at least until Friday. I'm happy to report that I have nothing bad to report! We'll see how Friday goes. (Friday is the first day I can restart the system so to speak.)

Have you called your doc about these little symptoms? It never hurts to just ask, you know, to be certain, because in every procedure, there is a possibility of infection, and you don't want that.

I'm on antibiotics as a precaution. I have no signs of infection whatsoever. These little feelings and aches are perfectly normal thank god. I feel better and better each day!

I agree. What a feeling to take your life in your own hands like that. Glad you're feeling better and things are progressing normally.

I am SO happy for you noregrets, and jealous. I am FORTY FIVE years old and there isn't a doctor in the ENTIRE southeastern United States who will do a tubal on me because, " You haven't had two kids". This even includes abortion clinics as although they are happy to give abortions, NONE of them will do a tubal ligation, regardless of age. They used to say, "Only if you are over 35 AND/or have had two kids". Now though, NO OB/GYN will do a tubal unless you are his preggo patient and he is absolutely CERTAIN you have had the magical "two" babies. My sister, who has two kids, asked about getting a tubal after her first kid and was TOLD NO, because of the "2 kid rule" and she was 36 years old at the time. It may be different up north, but in ALL of the southern states you are SOL when it comes to a tubal. However, most docs have no problemo with a guy snip at any age or stated birthed number of kids. Go figure.

Need to come to New York. I'm sure you can get it done here. We're definitely a more liberal state.
