I live just north of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. One of the fastest growing cities in the world right now-pure craziness!! I lived in the city for most of my life, but for the past 10 years we have lived in the country, and love it. We are only 1 hr from the city, which I love, so we can go in anytime to catch some 'culture'. We are also only about 1.5 hours from the mountains, Banff, Lake Louise. So I do like where we are! I grew up in Manitoba, and while I should be used to the snow and cold, I never ever got used to it! One day I will live elsewhere for the winters. South, way south. Preraph, Sorry, I thought you were in Australia for some reason, as I said in another post! Texas is still too far! lol I used to travel to Texas alot on business. I fell in love with San Antonio, so we traveled there often when we were down there. Had so much fun on the Riverwalk at night! I spent most of my time in Houston though. It is sooooo humid!! Not too many Canadians here, but there are a few of us! Shell

Kenosha, WI - southeast corner of the state. I've lived here all my life, aside from a year at school in MN and a year living in IL. It's a decent place, but it's growing like CRAZY (lots of IL residents moving in).. while I enjoy seeing all the interesting new shops, restaurants, etc, that come with a growing population, the traffic is starting to drive me a bit mad. But thankfully I'm on the edge of town so I can avoid most of it. I hope to hang around the upper midwest for as long as possible - I'm one of those crazy people that LIKES cold weather! Makes me appreciate the nice days even more. Of course, we have our share of weird weather (like snow in May sometimes!) And last week, a couple of tornadoes touched down near me - one a half mile east, one about TWO BLOCKS south.

Well grayjedi, if you don't like tornadoes, I won't recommend Oklahoma to you! ;D We get quite a few that touch down in the metro area during the spring months. My highschool was damaged by one at the end of my senior year - with a bunch of us in it! I don't care for cold weather myself, but I'd rather bundle up with some blankets than have my house destroyed by lovely Mother Nature.

Pflugerville, Texas. It is just north of Austin on I-35 (and rapidly becoming another Austin suburb)

I live in Somerset, Kentucky. I was born on Blytheville AFB in Arkansas, and spent the first 17 years of my life moving from base to base.

Wow, all that uprooting takes a toll, but it also gives you a more wordly perspective. A lot of my friends were "base brats," and it was heartbreaking when they'd get transferred.

The strange thing is that the town I live in is a retirement / tourist town. I've met a lot of people I knew growing up in the Air Force who have settled here or are here on vacation.
Moving every 2-5 years becomes the norm if that's how you grow up. I've had to make a lot of adjustments to finally settle down in one town. It's still strange to meet people who where born and raised here and can't fathom moving to another area.

Dunedin, New Zealand (almost the furthest South city in the world...although I need to check on Terra del Fuago...) And, no, it's not that cold. I did live in the US for 10 years as my hubby is from Minnesota. We were in Alaska 3 years, North Carolina 6 years and SoCal 1 year. Hated Alaska (far too cold) and SoCal (far too...everything scary), LOVED North Carolina. Would go back there (Chapel Hill and Southern Pines) in a heartbeat, but NZ really is THE paradise. I'm from Auckland (NZ) originally.

I'm originally from New York, but I'm in Michigan right now. I hate it, and I am wanting to move to the East coast.

Lorraine3000, I don't know why that would be, have never heard of it doing that before. Please try again. As long as you are just typing in the Reply box and not maybe moving something over by copying, I can't see why it would delete it.
